Wedding Wednesday: Our first dance!

Here it is folks...Our first dance as husband and wife! I loved being wrapped up in my husband’s arms and being surrounded by our closest family and friends as he dipped and twirled me around the dance floor. Our first wedding dance was a big hit at our reception and left our guests either smiling or sobbing. They couldn't stop raving about it!

Look Book: Chino love

Hope you all had a good Easter weekend! I spent mine just chilling out, I feel like I've been jet setting all over the place lately. It was nice to spend the weekend at home and get some much needed jobs done.

It's been a bit of a look book hiatus lately.  I've been a busy lady! I got married!! Haha!... But with things starting to get back to normality I promise to share more of these.

It's official I brought my first pair of chinos...and I have to say I'm a big fan!  I don't know why I didn't buy a pair earlier? I paired it with this white and navy striped top. It's so comfy and easy to wear, what doesn't go with stripes?!

Oh and how cute are these little loafer moccasins shoes?! They go perfectly with chinos but I can also see them going well with my boyfriend's jeans too. I love the decorative tassels at the front.

When was the last time you looked at somebody in a trench coat and thought, “Ugh, what a bad idea?” Never!  You never did that, because they make every single outfit look powerful. Wearing jeans? Add a trench coat! Wearing a skirt? Add a trench coat! Wearing pajamas? Add a trench coat!  (You may get a few looks, but who are they to judge? You’re wearing a trench coat!)  And surprise, surprise, they’re a staple of spring/summer 2014

This is one of those classic timeless outfits, it's always going to be one of my go to outfits!

Wedding Wednesday: So baby can we dance?

I'm back and I have a few more wedding moments to share with you all!  Since family and friends read my blog, I couldn’t share some things that Jake and I wanted to keep a surprise.  One of them was our wedding dance!

Everyone can ‘shuffle round in circles’ but we wanted to wow our guests with an elegant, classic Tango Waltz......We decided to get professional help!  The weeks leading up to the wedding Jake and I took some professional ballroom lessons.

Fun fact about me: I am a qualified Jazz dance teacher!  I haven't danced professionally for a few years now and I have never had to dance with a partner before let alone let them lead me!

Fun fact about Jake: He did Latin American dancing at a competitive level growing up!  Yes, that's right my husband can dance!  Is there anything he can't do?!

The dance lessons were so much fun!  We stepped on each others toes, we laughed, we rotated, we passed, we cuddled, we twirled and then, finally, we dipped.  With a bit of practice and choreography we went from high school prom dance to Dancing with the Stars (well maybe not that good, but it was a dance to remember).

Here are a few snaps of us at our dance lessons....I'll be sharing our wedding dance video soon! x

Wedding: Reception & Details

It’s not often you have all of your favourite people in one room together. The wedding was a true celebration of love, a day filled with heartfelt moments, tears, happy laughter and an overall great atmosphere.

Instead of having champagne on arrival Jake made his own homemade old fashioned lemonade and punch. We hired Shangri drink dispensers and drinking jars, styled with wooden crates and orchard fruit. The drinks were a great success! There wasn’t a drop left by the end of the night!

We had a cocktail reception so family and friends could mingle and eat delicious food at their leisure. We decided not to have a formal seating plan so we got to be creative with the design of our wedding. Vintage couch sets, wine barrels, lamps, burlap tables….which matched our venue perfectly.

I loved being wrapped up in my husband’s arms as we did our first dance surrounded by our closest family and friends. My heart was so happy!

Another personal touch we had on the day was Sue’s dessert table (Jakes mum), with her hand written recipes framed and her masterpieces for everyone to enjoy. This was the perfect way to remember Sue on our special day.  Her own personal touch and something she would have liked to do if she was still with us today.

All we've heard is how unique and personal our wedding was, family and friends can't stop raving about it! It makes me so happy because we definitely put a lot of effort and time into the planning process.

It was such an amazing night and the perfect ending to the perfect day!

Wedding: Ceremony

Fairy tales do come true…..

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect.  It was everything I imagined and more!  The moment the tractor arrived to pick us up from the cottage everything started feeling very real.  I was about to marry the man of my dreams!  My best friend my soul mate….my very own prince charming!  I loved the tractor ride down the road to the venue.  I remember trying to take everything in…the beautiful sunset forming on the hills, my maid of honour saying she had butterflies in her stomach, the boys getting excited and my mum trying to hold back the tears.  I was about to walk down the aisle to my soon to be husband!

Jake had kept everything a surprise.  I had no idea what song I was going to walk down the aisle too. To walk down towards him singing me down the aisle was a heart stopper…The emotion and excitement when I first locked eyes with him was more powerful than anything I had felt before.

As I have mentioned before family and friends were involved in every aspect of our wedding.  My talented brother in law played the guitar while Jake sang me down the aisle.   Morgan also played our wedding song “A Thousand Years” as we signed the register.  We felt very honoured to have Aunty Deb as our Marriage Celebrant.  We asked her specially to become one just so she could marry us.  We couldn’t think of anyone else we would have wanted to pronounce us husband and wife.  We are very blessed to have her in our lives.

I had planned every little detail.  I had even written our whole ceremony, so every word said had special meaning behind it.  To be surrounded by everyone that loves us as we became husband and wife was such a special moment!
